His Love Was Greater

When I look back on the last 30 years of walking with Jesus, my heart overflows with gratitude. But it hasn’t always been a straight, easy road. In fact, there have been valleys so dark I didn’t know if I’d ever see the light again.

I need to be honest: I’ve stumbled along the way. More than once. My past is full of broken beginnings–no healthy examples to follow, no real sense of worth, and years of shame that wrapped around me like chains. That kind of upbringing doesn’t excuse sin, but it does explain why my roots grew tangled. Out of that place, I made choices that grieved the Lord.

I don’t list them to glorify them, but to magnify His mercy. The sins were real. The failures were real. The consequences were real. And yet–God’s kindness, His patience, and His unrelenting love were even more real.

The truth is, the walk of sanctification is just that–a walk. It’s a journey. Step by step. Sometimes it’s two steps forward and one step back. Sometimes it’s tripping hard on the same rock you swore you’d never stumble over again. But here’s the miracle: every time I fell, His Word lifted me. His Spirit corrected me. His love carried me.

Sanctification is not instant perfection. It’s a growing process, where the Spirit of God reshapes our thinking, softens our hearts, and teaches us how to walk in His ways. It’s not about never stumbling–it’s about learning to rise in His strength, dusting off the shame, and letting His grace teach us to walk again.

I repented, and He forgave. I turned back, and He welcomed me. Where I saw only ruins, He began to build something new. Where I thought the story was over, He wrote a new chapter of redemption.

Today, I stand as a walking miracle–not because I have it all together, but because His love has been greater than my sin. Greater than my shame. Greater than my failures.

So if you’ve ever felt like you’ve stumbled too many times… if you’ve wondered if your past has disqualified you… if you’ve looked at your own sin and thought, “There’s no way back”–I’m living proof that there is. His mercy is bigger than your mess. His love is greater than your fall. His Spirit will teach you how to walk again.

“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.”

- Psalm 37:24

Sanctification is a journey, sis. And every step, even the shaky ones, are leading us closer to the heart of the One who never lets go.

Reflection Questions:

  1. When you think about your own walk with God, where have you stumbled but seen His hand lift you back up?

  2. What lies about your worth or past do you still need to surrender to the truth of His Word?

  3. How has the Holy Spirit gently taught you and reshaped your thinking through your journey?

Lord, thank You for never giving up on me. Thank You that even when I stumble, You uphold me with Your hand. Teach me through Your Word, guide me by Your Spirit, and remind me that Your love is always greater than my sin. Help me to keep walking forward, one step at a time, trusting in Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
