He Sings Over You

Have you ever stopped to think about how God feels about you? Not just that He loves you because “He has to” - but that He delights in you?
Zephaniah 3:17 says:
“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Let that sink in for a moment. The God of the universe - the One who spoke galaxies into being - sings over you. Imagine that!
Now, I’ll be honest. I can’t sing for nothing. I actually feel sorry for the people who sit in front of me at church because they’re forced to hear it LOL. But here’s the beautiful part: God’s song isn’t like mine (thank goodness!). His voice isn’t off-key, and His words don’t miss the mark. His song is perfect, and every note is filled with love, joy, and delight over you.
When I think about singing, I picture joy. Parents sing lullabies over their children because they adore them. A bride and groom dance to their song because it’s a celebration of love. Friends sing together when they’re overflowing with happiness. Singing comes from a place of delight.
And that’s the very word Zephaniah uses: delight. God doesn’t just tolerate us. He doesn’t look at us and say, “Well, I guess I’ll love her even though she keeps messing up.” No - He looks at you, His daughter, His beloved, and His heart is so full that He bursts into song.
Sis, I know how easy it is to let shame or failure convince us that God must be disappointed. I’ve been there. But Scripture tells a different story. His love covers us. His presence surrounds us. And His joy over us is louder than our regrets.
What if today, instead of beating yourself up, you paused long enough to hear Him humming over you? What if you pictured His smile instead of your shortcomings?
The enemy wants you to believe you’re too much, not enough, or too broken. But the Father says, “You are Mine, and I delight in you.”
So, the next time you’re tempted to think you’ve let God down, remember this truth: the Mighty Warrior who saves is also the tender Father who sings. And His song over you is more beautiful than anything you could ever imagine.
When was the last time you felt truly delighted in by someone? How does it change your heart to know God delights in you even more?
What lies do you need to lay down so you can believe God rejoices over you?
How can you remind yourself daily that you are loved, seen, and celebrated by your Father?
Father, thank You for singing over me. Thank You that Your love isn’t distant or cold, but joyful and tender. Help me to hear Your song louder than the voice of shame or fear. Remind me that I am Your delight, the apple of Your eye. In Jesus’ name, amen.
